Bat Mitzva Ceremony

bat mitsva

In June 2010, Olam Hesed conducted a  Bat Mitzvah ceremony for fifteen girls from the “Family Nest “(which helps single mothers treated by the Welfare Department) in Ashkelon.

Since the Welfare Department conducts Bar Mitzvah ceremony for boys, Olam Hesed initiated a Bat-Mitzvah ceremony for girls.

Thus, fifteen girls, who had no one to sponsor their coming of age, received their own festive ceremony. “Olam Hesed “arranged for them a full Bat-Mitzvah ceremony attended by about 150 invited guests and included a feast, ceremony, lighting candles, Challah and more. The event’s production was further enhanced by volunteer work of a photographer who provided each girl with her own set of photos and a hair stylist who did the girls’ hair and makeup. After the ceremony, the girls received gift packs (which included Siddurs, watches, jewelry and more) and each girl received a CD with pictures and video from the event. The girls emerged from the ceremony excited and luminous thanks warmth bestowed upon them and for not having missed such an important day in their lives.
